CONGRATULATIONS TO: The True Gentleman Brotherhood Award: 2015 - Brother Justin Smith 2016 - Brother Johny Phonephanh The Minerva Scholarship Award: 2015 - Brother Kyle Montgomery 2016 - Brother Samir Koliq The Lion's Leadership Awards: 2016 - Brother Mario McClain, Jr. On behalf of the undergrads, The RI Alpha Alumni Board approved (3) scholarships to support our undergrad's and alumni's work. URGENT: Applications must be received by email to the Scholarship Committee Chair by October 31st each year to be considered. Each 300-500 word application essay attachment must include the complete name of the applicant, a mailing address (to send the award), a telephone number, an email address, and the name of the scholarship award in order to be comsidered by the Scholarship Selection Committee. Scholarship #1: The Rhode Island-Alpha ΣAE Alumni Association The True Gentleman Brotherhood Award Focus: Character Awarded to: RI-Alpha Undergrads/post grads attending URI Annual Amount: $1,500 Submission Deadline: 10/31/16 Initial Award Date: January, 2017 This True Gentleman Brotherhood Award may be awarded annually to any active undergraduate or post graduate members in good standing from Rhode Island Alpha and actively attending the University of Rhode Island. This scholarship is award to individuals who through their action, word and deed best exemplifies the characteristics and attributes of The True Gentleman and fraternal brotherhood. Scholarship #2: The Rhode Island-Alpha ΣAE Alumni Association The Minerva Scholarship Award Focus: Scholarship Awarded to: RI-Alpha Undergrads/post grads attending URI Annual Amount: $1,500 Submission Deadline: 10/31/16 Initial Award Date: January, 2017 This Minerva Scholarship may be awarded annually to any active undergraduate member(s) in good standing of Sigma Alpha Epsilon at the University of Rhode Island who has achieved or contributed to outstanding academic performance and academic integrity. This includes having an exceptional grade point average, demonstrating significant improvement in grade point average over three consecutive semesters, or contributing positively to the overall academic performance of the active members of ΣAE at URI (e.g., tutoring and academic mentoring). Process to Award this Scholarship: Qualified applicants may apply directly for this scholarship by submitting the required items prior to the deadline. All nominations and materials submitted will be reviewed by the Alumni Association Scholarship Committee members. The final selection will be determined by a majority vote of all active Rhode Island Alpha Alumni Board Members in good standing. Scholarship #4: The Rhode Island-Alpha SAE Alumni Association Chapter Eternal - Community Service Award Awarded to: RI-Alpha Undergrads/post grads attending URI Annual Amount: TBA Submission Deadline: 10/31/16 Initial Award Date: January, 2017 The Chapter Eternal – Community Service Award in the amount of $TBA may be awarded annually to any active member(s) in good standing of Sigma Alpha Epsilon at the University of Rhode Island and/or individuals with an affiliation to Sigma Alpha Epsilon at the University of Rhode Island - - including, but not limited to, being an SAE Little Sister; being a pledge of SAE; or the child, stepchild, grandchild, niece or nephew of a RI-Alpha SAE Alumni Association member (in good standing for at least 5 years) attending URI that have made outstanding contributions within the Chapter, to the University, and/or to the greater community through their involvement with community service projects and activities. This award is dedicated to the memories of our deceased Brothers.
